Welcome to our very first Shop Boss Inc small business feature where we take to the streets and a shop near you to(some would say grill!) ask them to tell us all about themselves. We want to find out how our local businesses stay relevantly successful in this ever evolving digital media age. We ask them to share their 5 top tips of the trade to hopefully inspire others out there and learn from their successes.
This week we are pleased to bring you an exclusive feature from the team behind the brand new Nisa local store, located in Cambuslang at the site of the old precinct and dwelling place for those who frequented the Cambus bar for most of the noughties. The owners certainly know “their stuff” so to speak, when it comes to business as they have many years retail experience and currently own seven other shops in different areas.
We met with Irfan at the brand new premises where Shop Boss Inc were given privileged behind the scenes access with a sneak peek at how the shop is looking. I for one can vouch for the fact it is looking fantastic and excited to see it when it is fully furbished on its opening day. The shop is set to hold their grand opening at the end of this month on Nov 29th. Inside the premises you can expect to see pretty much everything you could ever wish for in a store. From a Costa coffee machine for your morning caffeine fix to a milkshake and Equis ice cream counter to sort you out for those binge worthy Netflix nights in.
It is clear to see by looking at the shops facebook page that the community are completely behind this new business opening up . They have already amassed an impressive 1400 followers on their social media page and that’s even before the shop has opened. Great social media marketing right there!

One of the most inspiring parts of meeting with the owners was to hear that they really do keep the local community at the heart of their brand. They worked closely with the local job centre and through this they manage to hire around 90% of their staff from them. It brings a welcome boost to the town who have unfortunately suffered the decline of their once bustling high street in the years gone by and many job losses with it in the process. They are also dedicated to giving back in terms of helping local charities as much as they can and have already set plans in place this winter to donate as much of their stock as possible to the food banks in the area. It really is heart warming to hear them speak so sincerely about their passion to help as much as they can being in a position to do so.
Here are 5 of their best tips to help you succeed in your business venture.
Start at the bottom: There should be no role in your store that you couldn’t do yourself if need be. Don’t be afraid to roll up those sleeves and get stuck in to all areas of your business. Of course you you don’t need to be an expert in all the shop roles but you should at least have an understanding of them.
Understand your stock. Know what sells and don’t be afraid to take risks.
Mix up the team dynamics by surrounding yourself with different personality types. It is always good to have a diverse team around you where you can learn and grow with each other in business.
Always stay true to your brands working ethics.
Utilize social media regularly to engage and build your online presence
